At ScootHero, we respect your right to control your personal information. This page explains how you can request deletion of your data from our platform.
Who this applies to
This page applies to: merchants and businesses using the ScootHero platform; drivers registered through ScootHero; customers who have received delivery notifications via ScootHero’s services; and anyone whose personal information has been processed by ScootHero.
What data we can delete
Upon a valid request, we can delete: your account profile and login credentials; contact information (name, email, phone number, address); order history and delivery records associated with your account; message history sent through our WhatsApp integration; driver location and trip history (where applicable); and any other personal information we hold about you.
How to request deletion
1. Send an email to info@scoothero.co.za
2. Use the subject line: Data Deletion Request
3. Include the following in your email: your full name; the email address or phone number associated with your ScootHero account; a brief description of the data you want deleted (or state “all my data”); and confirmation that you are the account holder or have authority to make this request.
What happens next
We will acknowledge your request within 5 business days. We will verify your identity to protect your data from unauthorised deletion requests. We will complete the deletion within 30 days of verification. We will send you a confirmation email once deletion is complete.
What we may need to retain
In some cases, we are legally required or permitted to retain certain information, including: records required for tax, accounting, or regulatory compliance; information needed to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements; anonymised or aggregated data that no longer identifies you; and records relating to fraud prevention or legal claims. We will inform you if any of your data falls into these categories.
Your other rights under POPIA
In addition to deletion, you have the right to: access the personal information we hold about you; correct inaccurate information; object to certain types of processing; and lodge a complaint with the South African Information Regulator.
